One day, strolling through the streets of S. Korea, Ish found herself and her friends craving a good ol' fashioned cupcake. Finding nothing that could satisfy the desire, she decided to simply make her own. They were a huge hit, and very soon, the US ex-pat community in her neighborhood were buying her cupcakes!
Upon her return to Houston, she found herself with another confounding problem. Why aren't there vegan gulab jamun in a cupcake? After all, it's a hallmark South Asian dessert and the most common American dessert. Well, tying on her apron, she made her own in 2012. The rest, as they say, is just sweet history.
